Emergency Urological Surgery Cadaver Course

This course will run in the state-of-the-art Clinical Anatomy Skills Centre (CASC).  CASC is a joint venture between the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and the University of Glasgow.   The centre is a state of the art, purpose built facility designed to provide cadaveric training for surgeons, physicians, dentists and other allied health professionals.

Aimed at middle years and senior trainees (ST4 to 7), this one day course will offer hands on experience and the opportunity to perform essential open urological emergency procedures using fresh cadaveric material.

The programme will include:

  • Open cystostomy
  • Reimplantation of ureter with psoas hitch
  • Boari Flap
  • Transuretero-ureterostomy
  • Emergency renal exploration

Two delegates will be assigned to each cadaver along with a low delegate/faculty ratio.  Some didactic teaching will take place but the main emphasis of the course will be to provide hands on practical experience.
